In class today, I presented a powerpoint on symbolism in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby". The students were supposed to take notes on the slides. Afterwords, I assigned the class groups to work on their own powerpoint projects on individual characters. 

Assignments: Finish book 3 weeks from Friday.
Powerpoint project due Thursday.

​In class today, I set each of the desks in a circle so the class could participate in a round-table discussion on Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Topics today included Randall McMurphy, The Chief's silence, religious connections, etc. Assignment: read through the end of the book by Friday.
